About Us

Behind the Vinyl was a vision that founder/host Steven Macri had for several years. After writing for the USA Today Group and doing some time at SiriusXM, Macri was able to take his interviewing skills that he learned in the journalism industry and carried it over to podcasting -- A platform that has experienced tremendous growth in recent memory. Macri brought an "all in" attitude to the podcast, spending countless nights sending out interview requests, editing the show into the late hours, and rushing home from work to conduct an interview. It was a full plate, but it was welcomed with open arms. The first ever episode was published on April 14 of 2020 with a band out of New Jersey called America Part Two. It was an exciting, yet nerve-wrecking time. Macri always enjoyed the true identity of the music community. There have been a number of times where he walked into a venue alone and left with several new friends. That's what makes the music community so unique; anyone can show up to a show and feel at home. That same feeling held true with the first episode. People gave it a chance by listening, sharing, and commenting on the interview. Soon after, Brendan Kelly of The Lawrence Arms came on for an interview that Macri will never forget. That was soon followed by acts such as Ratboys, Mannequin Pussy, and Dogleg. Since then, the podcast has had Origami Angel, The Menzingers, Mikey Erg, Retirement Party, Spanish Love Songs, and a bunch of other super talented artists join the discussion. This is a chance for listeners to hear the full story about the band. Whether it be their history, new music on the way, or something fun they are doing in the community... Behind the Vinyl has you cover. As stated on the home page, this is an in-depth interview with your new favorite bands. Whether it be emo, acoustic, punk, or whatever genre defying blend of music you’re into, Behind the Vinyl has an artist for you.
